Report serious side effects to nearest PHC or UHC, healthcare workers told

MARGAO
Hospicio Medical Superintendent, Dr Deepa Correia, has said that healthcare workers who experience any serious side effects after receiving a jab of the Covid vaccine should immediately report to their respective Primary or Urban Health centres for treatment.

She told the media that though a post-vaccination monitoring centre is set up at the TB hospital, wherein the persons after receiving the vaccine jab, are made to wait for half an hour, she said those experiencing the side effects after some days must report to the nearest health centres.

“At the TB hospital, we have put a mechanism in place wherein the persons are kept for observation for half an hour. In the event of the patient developing serious side effects, a mechanism is in place to shift the patient to the Hospicio hospital,” Dr Correia said. Nodal officer Dr Ira Almeida said that the health authorities have engaged experienced vaccinators for the programme. “Most of the vaccinators have years of experience in vaccination. They have been attached to the pediatric ward and have been training with the safe injection procedure, besides technical guidance,” she added.
