The State government may have decided to move the controversial project out of Melauli following stiff public opposition, but locals are determined to continue their agitation till all of their demands are met.
Speaking to reporters, Ram Melekar, a local from Melauli, said they welcome the State government’s decision to scrap the proposed IIT project in Melauli village.
“However, our agitation will continue till we get land ownership rights. The land has already been transferred to the IIT Goa and we demand that the government revokes the name of the IIT Goa and enter the names of villagers in form I & XIV,” Melekar said.
“We also demand the immediate withdrawal of all FIRs (first information reports) filed against the protestors on connection with the clashes between the police and locals,” Melekar added.
