Following a recent rise in crimes across the State, the Goa Police carried out a combing and foot patrol in the Chimbel and St Cruz areas to maintain law and order and curb anti-social activities.
The drive covered parts of Chimbel such as Indiranagar, Chimbel quarry, Dhobhi Ghat, and Santaban, along with areas in St Cruz.
A total of 45 people were rounded up for verification, and 18 of them were taken to the police station for detailed background checks.
After verification, nine individuals were placed under preventive arrest under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Police said the arrested persons would be produced before the Magistrate for execution of bonds for good behaviour.
