MARGAO
The Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd has said that the Railways had temporarily stopped work at the Nessai level crossing respecting the sentiments of villagers who had called for a halt in the work pending demarcation of the property.

RVNL General Manager (Projects) D Sahoo further said that the officials had come with the maps and plans concerning the land in question near the Nessai crossing, but added that the people raised questions over the measurements and have now called for demarcation.

“We had come equipped with the maps and plans, but the people raised questions over the measurements. Since the villagers have called for demarcation of the land, the same will be carried out on Monday morning,” Sahoo said.

He pointed out that the railways will come to the site with its surveyor for the demarcation work near the level crossing.

To a question, he said nearly 90 per cent work on the Davorlim stretch of the South Western Railway has been completed to date. “We have laid the double track in the railway property in Davorlim village. So far, around 90 per cent of the track doubling project has been completed in Davorlim,” he added.
