MARGAO
Loutolim villagers and people from neighbouring villages will walk to the residence of Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa on Sunday morning to discuss the contentious issues of handling and transportation of coal, double-tracking and other projects.

Sources said the people will assemble at the Tata showroom on the Verna-Margao highway at 9.30 am on Sunday and later walk to the MLA’s house in a peaceful manner.

Sources informed that the people will take up with the MLA issue such as the jetties, nationalization of rivers, handling and transportation of coal, major Ports Bill, illegal filling of Khazan lands, transmission line at Mollem and acquisition of land by the South Western Railway in Majorda.

Incidentally, the decision by the people to call on the MLA comes against the backdrop of the Nuvem MLA’s meeting with the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant earlier this week. Accompanied by the sarpanchas of the villages in Nuvem constituency, the MLA had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister requesting the government to stop infrastructure projects facilitating coal transportation.

In the memorandum, the sarpanchas had made a fervent plea to the government to immediately stop the progress of the infrastructure projects, forthwith stop the ongoing works of double-tracking of the railway lines and altogether scrap the infrastructure projects facilitating coal transportation in the state of Goa.
