95 pc of underground cabling work completed in Saligao constituency

Stating that 95 per cent of underground power cabling work has been completed in Saligao constituency, Saligao MLA Kedar Naik added that work on the 200 kVA substation at Pilerne is nearing completion.

He was speaking as chief guest at a function organised by the Pilerne-Marra panchayat to inaugurate a futsal ground at Alto“Pilerne, the first such futsal ground in Saligao constituency.

Naik also informed that the work order to set up a 15 MLD water treatment plant has been issued, while the foundation stone for the Pilerne panchayat Ghar with a community hall for a seating capacity of 1,000 people will be laid shortly.

He mentioned that the site for the Sangolda Panchayat Ghar has been finalised, while efforts are on to locate an area for a football ground in Saligao.

Commenting on the futsal ground at Alto“Pilerne, Naik said the Pilerne“Marra panchayat had decided to develop a futsal ground to provide an opportunity for youngsters to utilise their energies in sporting activities.

“Apart from this futsal ground, two badminton courts and an open gym will be set up in this area shortly,” he added.

ZP member Sandeep Bandodkar said the futsal ground has been constructed at a cost of Rs 35 lakh from the Zilla Panchayat funds, mainly due to the support from MLA Kedar Naik and the Pilerne-Marra panchayat.

Pilerne Dy Sarpanch Ajay Govekar said it was possible to develop the sports facility in the open space as the landlords Augusto and Aureo D’souza had granted their no-objection certificate to the panchayat.

North Goa Zilla Panchayat President Dhaku Madkaikar and CEO of North Goa Zilla Panchayat Dr Ajay Gaude also spoke on this occasion.

Others present on the occasion included Pilerne“Marra Sarpanch Reshma Bandodkar, Nerul Sarpanch Rajesh Kalangutkar, Saligao Sarpanch Lucas Remedios, Sangolda Sarpanch Minolette Lopes, Reis Magos Sarpanch Sushmita Pednekar and panch members.
