Acknowledging their dedicated services, and congratulating the Drishti team for offering their 24x7 committed services, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday tweeted, “Drishti’s unparalleled courage and mobility at times of emergencies has enabled them to carry out 5,900 rescues with an audited record of 99% reduction in drowning deaths in Goa. Their commitment to service and bravery is truly commendable, to which we are forever indebted.”
As the government of Goa is eyeing the tourist footfall that would pour in from next month onwards, the tourism department is gearing up to welcome the tourists and be prepared to deal with the demands of the season.
The global tourists visit Goa between the months of October-November to February when the beaches are sunny and every year there are incidents of people drowning in the sea or water bodies like Dudhsagar and Mayem lake. However, the presence of Drishti Lifesaving at these places has been a blessing for the State Tourism department.
Drishti has been guarding Goan beaches and water bodies since 2008, offering the best possible safety standards to thousands of tourists and even locals who risk their lives while enjoying swimming at sea or in the water bodies.
With over 700 trained lifeguards, Drishti provides dedicated service across all beach stretches and internal water bodies like Dudhsagar waterfall and Mayem lake.
Drishti lifeguards go out of their way to save humans and even animal or sea life, at times even risking their own lives. The service has significantly improved the tourist experience in Goa.
Over 3,000 lives have been saved due to intervention rescue operations. The company also operates a Beach Safety Patrol providing beach marshals from sunset till midnight. The beach marshals focus on women's safety, assist tourists and deter tourists from venturing into the ocean. Drishti also extends its rescue services to various marine life that get caught up in man-made obstacles.
