A month has passed since the landslide on the NH66 highway at Malpe-Pernem, but the collapsed portion of the protection wall is yet to be repaired.
At present, traffic has been diverted along an accident-prone route.
Unhappy locals have been demanding action against the contractor concerned for the collapse of a portion the protection wall.
Locals had complained to the government, police, district collector, deputy district collector and other authorities, but claimed that no action has been taken against the contractor so far.
They recalled that seven years ago, a similar incident had occurred and a stretch of about 100 metres of a road between Varkhand Nigale junction to Railway Bridge had been washed away in the Tiracol river. They claimed that action is yet to be taken against that contractor.
They have now demanded the government to intervene in the matter and direct the contractor to repair the collapsed portion of protection wall at the earliest, since motorists have been diverted along an accident-prone route.
