A suitcase-carrying ‘dwarf’ neta running amok in Goa?

PANAJI
A suitcase-carrying dwarf politician has been apparently running amok in Goa’s corridors of power for the last 17 years, knocking on the doors of ministers and other bigwigs, former deputy Chief Minister Sudin Dhavalikar alleged on Saturday, making a cryptic charge at CM Pramod Sawant over the issue of corruption.

Dhavalikar, who was responding to allegations of corruption levelled against him by Sawant, also said that former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar had also levelled similar allegations against him in 2004, while warning Sawant against meddling with the MGP.

“You (CM) have said that Sudin filled his pockets. I will tell him who filled their pockets if he does not know. A similar allegation was levelled against me in 2004. At that time, I said that a ‘butko’ (dwarf) belonging to your (BJP) party has been going around with a suitcase,” Dhavalikar said, directing the spotlight on the mysterious, dwarf politician, who according to the MGP MLA has been a part of the BJP set up for nearly two decades.

“After that, they shut up. I am saying this again now. You have commented about me filling my pockets. Instead, check why this same dwarf continues to knock on everybody’s doors, including those of ministers, with a suitcase. I want to remind him about this,” Dhavalikar said.

Dhavalikar’s comments come a day after the BJP targetted the former deputy CM at A public outreach programmes conducted in Dharbandora on Friday.

The MGP MLA also urged Sawant to make efforts to identify the dwarf, warning him against interfering with the affairs of the MGP.

“Just look around and see who is moving around with bags, who is this dwarf, check up on all this,” Dhavalikar said.

Meanwhile, he also said former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s political doom was scripted by his “four tutors” one each from Canacona, Shiroda, Sanvordem and Saligao and said that Sawant was treading the same dangerous path.

“All four, along with Parsekar, were wiped out. Remember this. Now, four other persons are coaching the chief minister. You know who they are. It includes two who deserted the MGP, one is from Priol and there’s one from Ponda,” Dhavalikar said, without taking names.

The MGP leader also warned the Chief Minister as well as the core committee of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party against taking rash decisions, by listening to people who would eventually hack at their party’s roots.

“They do not want people who walk the path of truth. They want people who will hack at their own roots. I warn the (BJP) core committee. It is time to think now. The state is in your hands, do not act unwisely,” Sawant said.
