Members of Aam Admi Party (AAP) led by Vishwesh Parob marched to Sattari Civil Supplies office at Valpoi and demanded new ration cards to APL cardholders as their applications are pending since the last 10 months.
Civil Supplies Inspector Arlekar told the delegation that about 9,000 ration cards under Food Security Scheme have already been distributed to the cardholders in Sattari. Arlekar, however, admitted that the office couldn't distribute APL ration cards to the cardholders, as no instructions have been received from the department. He informed that APL cards will be distributed by April end.
Vishwesh Parob was accompanied by AAP members including Manohar Gaonkar and Gokuldas Naik.
Speaking to The Goan, Parob said about 6,000 APL cardholders in Sattari are waiting for new ration cards since last 10 months and alleged that the government has a political motive in delaying distribution of APL cards.
“Election is approaching nearer, so the government may distribute the cards after a few months to the cardholders. We believe that government has purposely delayed the process of distribution of APL cards as a political motive,” Parob claimed.
Parob demanded that APL cards should be distributed to the cardholders through panchayats soon.
