AAP: Govt forced to change stance on water fearing us

PANAJI

The fear of the Aam Aadmi Party's impact on Goa and Goan politics is clearly visible in CM Pramod Sawant's Independence Day address as he announced a free water scheme for Goans, the party said on Monday.

In a press release, the AAP said that after hearing the announcement, Goans want to know what took BJP so long?

"It looks like the Kejriwal Model has not only arrived but is here to stay in Goa. The party that refused to give anything free to its citizens has now started to fall in line purely out of the fear and the heat of AAP's presence in Goa. This clearly shows that AAP is the only party that can fight the BJP. The AAP has extracted a promise of services for Goans from the BJP without a single MLA, something Congress has failed to do over 10 years. Goans across the state, however, are well aware that this is nothing but an empty promise by the Sawant government which ignored their needs for the last 4 years," said AAP in the press release adding, "That the Aam Aadmi Party has been growing from strength to strength in Goa has been no secret. Starting with the Veej Andolan the party has visited almost every single Panchayat and reached out to Goans with the Kejriwal model of Governance. Goans are aware that the Kejriwal government provides its citizens with free healthcare, power and water which has led to them raising the question that if Kejriwal can do this why not Sawant and the BJP."

"Goans are asking Sawant - Why did you take 4 years to make this announcement just before elections? Is it only fear of the Aam Aadmi Party that made you recognise that a government's job is to provide citizens with services?"

"These questions go a long way in explaining the Sawant government's apparent u-turn on providing free services to Goenkars in return for the taxes they pay. Goans remember clearly that Sawant's colleague, Nilesh Cabral had just last month firmly stated that the government would never give any free services to Goans, a fact he reiterated arrogantly in his debate with AAP's Power Minister Satyendar Jain. The Sawant government, however, seems to be facing severe heat from all sides as to why Goenkars don't get any services due to them and have been forced by AAP's aggressive outreach in Goa to announce free water," AAP added in its release, adding "The writing on the wall is clear. BJP is afraid of AAP and that its model is the only way forward to save Goa."
