GHB urged to hand over land to Rumdamol p’yat at earliest

MARGAO

Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro on Monday urged the Goa Housing Board to complete the process of handing over land admeasuring 18,000 square meters to the Rumdamol Panchayat area at the earliest.

The Navelim MLA on Monday reviewed the progress of work of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) facility being put in at the Rumdamol Housing Board area to handle the burning waste problem plaguing the area.

During the interaction with Rumdamol Sarpanch Avita Chodankar, Power Officer Alvito Fernandes, and Goa Housing Board and PWD officials, Faleiro impressed upon the need for these departments to work in tandem to ensure that the garbage problem facing the Housing Board area is resolved.

He requested the Power and PWD officials to connect the MRF unit with power and road access so that the Panchayat can commission the facility at the earliest.

Saying that the garbage problem is affecting the Housing Board area, Faleiro, however, expressed his happiness that Sarpanch Chodankar along with the panchayat members is working hard along with the PWD roads, electricity department and others to ensure that a fully functional garbage processing centre to segregate two tons of dry and wet waste takes shape in the village. He said the facility will also have an incinerator.

Meanwhile, Rumdamol Sarpanch Chodankar has requested the Goa Housing Board to hand over the land admeasuring 18,000 square metres. She said the Panchayat had drawn up plans to set up several public utility projects including playground, market complex et al as and when the land comes in possession of the Panchayat.
