AAP: Govt ignores locals, gives preference to ‘outsider’ Adani

MAPUSA
Stating that there was a total collapse of administration in the State, the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday said that instead of coming to the aid of the locals the government was more concerned about outsiders.

“There is apparently no dearth of funds to finance works aimed at helping Adani but there are no funds available for the people of Goa. The seafarers have not been paid pension, the Laadli Lakshmi scheme is in doldrums while the DDSSY scheme for medical help is kept on hold,” said Rahul Mhambre, convener of AAP

He said the government was in a tearing hurry to complete the double-tracking of railway tracks despite people’s opposition with the sole intention of helping Adani.

The AAP convener along with Saligao AAP leader Mario Cordeiro was addressing a news conference in Mapusa.

Continuing, Mhambre said instead of taking necessary steps to deal with Covid, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant blamed the people for their carelessness and even said the high death rate due to Covid was because people were coming late to the hospital.

“The government is taxing Goans by making them pay hefty fees for Covid treatment at private hospitals and the situation in government hospitals is scandalous. At GMC, a Covid patient was made to sleep on the floor while at ESI hospital patients are turned back as there are no beds,” he said.

The AAP convener said the administration in the State had completely collapsed so much so that courts have now started monitoring investigations carried out by the police. He was referring to the order of Judge Shahir Issan with regards to Maina Curtorim police investigating a case of forgery committed to selling Goan’s land to outsiders.

“It is not that websites of 80 departments are non-existent but the fact is that the entire administration in Goa has collapsed where sons of the red soil have to suffer while outsiders get their work done immediately,” Mhambre said.

He asserted that AAP is committed to upholding the rights of locals and urged the CM to start working for Goa and Goans and not Adani and further to streamline the administration instead of playing the blame game.
