As a hardworking volunteer who has put his heart and soul in the Aam Aadmi Party’s campaign, there was never a doubt that AAP would pick a person other than Pradeep Gadi Amonkar as its mascot from Tivim.
Amonkar is not a novice to politics having twice contested unsuccessfully from the Tivim constituency on the MGP ticket.
A man who has worn many hats, Amonkar was briefly associated with the government and worked as a PWD engineer.
He has left a mark in the social network having been a former president of Jaycees and Rotary Club. He was also former president of Bhandari Samaj in Bardez.
Amonkar has been AAP’s livewire in Bardez on the ground and off it, on the virtual media rankling the opponents with his witty barbs.
“The upbringing by my freedom fighting father who often sensitized me on the needs of the Goan community stirred in me the desire to do something distinct and rewarding for the people of Goa,” Amonkar said.
“However, stereotype politicians did everything for their own greed and nothing for the peoples' need. AAP has changed the dynamics and has inspired me with hope to work for the citizens of this State,” he added.
Having to match with two heavy weights “ Kiran Kandolkar and Nilkant Halarnkar, in Tivim, Amonkar has his task cut out.
In Aldona, AAP’s candidate Ursula D’Souza is also not new to politics having been elected as panch member in Aldona Panchayat.
She was elected as a sarpanch of the village and is presently a panch member.
In her association with panchayat politics, Ursula is considered to be upright, honest and decisive woman who's not afraid to take tough decisions.
