Aam Aadmi Party released its ‘vision document’ in a brief 3-page manifesto for Panaji constituency on Monday which promises a ‘ward sabhas’ every six months for public participation in governance and its signature ‘ward clinics’ with free medicines.
“Along with the MLA, Smart City officials, PWD officials and other concerned officials will be present to listen and solve grievances of the people,” Valmiki Naik said explaining the concept of ‘ward sabhas’ while releasing his manifesto for Panjim.
“Implementation of the manifesto will be easier in Goa unlike in Delhi which is like a semi-state and more like a union territory,” AAP convenor, Elvis Gomes, a former top bureaucrat said.
In the manifesto, AAP has promised eight ‘waddo clinics’ and three ambulances to reduce response time to less than 5 minutes.
Other promises in the manifesto include rebranding Panjim as India’s most beautiful capital city, facilitate a casino-free and clean tourism based economy with focus on the existing natural, built and cultural heritage of Panaji.
AAP has also promised to come up with a unique ‘Panaji Tourism Calendar’ which will be created to include music, food, film festivals, annual cultural events, sailing and water sports events.
The manifesto also emphasis on entrepreneurship development by promoting heritage walks, homestays, backwater kayaking, salt pan tours, fishing tours, etc. It also speaks of creating jobs in knowledge-based enterprises such as IT, banking, retail and hospitality.
The manifesto promises co-operative housing society building maintenance, rejuvenation of rental markets and a total ban on ad-hoc changes in the Panaji ODP.
Water supply and electricity will be given priority. People friendly policing, safe footpaths, street furniture, illumination and pedestrian crossing, AAP says in the manifesto.
The manifesto also promises social housing projects to replace slums in phases and a review to decentralize the existing waste (garbage) management system of the city.
