The Aam Aadmi Party in Goa has promised to begin tackling corruption within 30 days of coming to power even as they accused former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar of taking advantage of the India Against Corruption Movement back in 2012 only to renege on his promise.

Addressing a press conference, AAP’s Panaji candidate Valmiki Naik said that the day the party comes to power will be last days of the corrupt politicians who continue to occupy seats of power and prestige and elude the arm of the law.

“In 30 days of AAP government taking office, the probes into existing FIRs will be re-opened and in other cases fresh FIRs will be filed. AAP government will not compromise on the issue of corruption. Fresh FIRs will be booked and all corruption cases will be pursued.

In several cases, FIRs have already been booked but investigations have not progressed due to the underhand dealings among Goa's politicians,” AAP’s Valmiki Naik said.

“Our party was born from the anti corruption movement which was at its height in 2012. Parrikar used the wave of the anti corruption movement to come to power and even gave us in writing that he would bring in a Lokayukta Bill on the lines of Uttarakhand. However once he came to power he only worked to weaken the institution with amendments,” Valmiki Naik said.

“The Digambar Kamats, the Parsekars, the Parrikars, the Dhavalikars, the Ranes, the Mandrekars, the Faleiros, the Parulekars, the Vijay Sardesais, the Mahadevs, the Monserrates and the Godhinhos and Madkaikars will all face the stringent arm of the law for their innumerable sins of corruption and nepotism,” Naik said adding that he had no hesitation in naming any of the ministers.

“The land scams, the Rs 35,000 crore illegal mining loot, the illegal amassing of astronomical amounts of wealth by these politicians will be investigated, they will be prosecuted, jailed and the loot recovered,” Naik said.

The AAP also promised to strengthen the anti corruption mechanisms and bring in e-governance and public delivery services to do away with corruption.
