AAP says large-scale illegalities in Paroda, but govt not acting

MARGAO

Saying that the government has lost all sense of hearing and needed hearing aids, the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday accused the TCP and other authorities of gross negligence in acting on the complaints of the people.

AAP environment leader Sidharth Karapurkar said that the party would send a hearing aid to the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to symbolically convey that the government was deaf and hence deserved to be assisted or thrown out rather than make the people suffer at the hands of its authorities.

Citing a specific case at a media briefing here on Wednesday to drive home the point, Karapurkar showed how large scale illegal development was taking place in an area of over 25000 square meters of pristine agriculture fields in survey nos. 123, 124, 130, 135, 136, 137 of Village Paroda and the manner in which the TCP and the village panchayat of Paroda were playing hide and seek game to frustrate the complainants.

“It has been a year now since the first complaint was lodged by the villagers of Paroda about the land development in an agricultural land admeasuring over 4000 square meters.

Although inspection after inspection has been carried out, the ‘inspectors’ are reluctant to act and are allowing development of a colony of hutments to create a vote bank. Sending letters are of no use as the authorities are deliberately frustrating those who complain,” said Karapurkar showing letters written to TCP, Collector and the village panchayat of Paroda that has not resulted in any action against the ‘criminals’ who he said are committing a crime on environment without any fear of the law.

“The penultimate action is to write to the anti-corruption unit to investigate the role played by the TCP and other authorities. If that doesn’t work, then the final option would be to move the High Court to get these officers punished,” asserted Karapurkar, while saying that AAP has decided to take up cudgels for the beleaguered residents of Paroda.
