“The coalition partners and BJP are at loggerheads even on issues directly affecting the day-to-day lives of the Goan people such as beef ban, drugs and late night parties and the migrant Lamani community.”
“This is creating confusion in the ranks of the bureaucracy and adversely affecting governance delivery to the people,” AAP’s State convener Elvis Gomes has said. The party’s (MGP) demand for closure of Goa Meat Complex, housing one of the most modern and hygienic abattoirs, is foolish and a case of flexing non-existent political muscle to further the MGP’s bargaining power,” Gomes said.
“As for the Goa Forward Party, it has contrary positions with the BJP as well as contradictions within the party itself. It’s minister from Siolim Vinod Palyekar is
opposed to late night parties and wants them banned but TCP Minister Vijay Sardessai holds an opposite view,” Gomes added.
Gomes also referred to the ‘farce’ of an apology played out by this government is the apology by Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo for the outburst of Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar against the Lamani community.
Gomes went on to add that it has become a government which is packed with jokers whose only concern is holding on to their power positions and making hay till the sun shines, while Goa and its people be damned.
“It’s clear that this government has no seriousness in evolving a functioning coalition dharma but will thrive on political drama for the galleries while Goa and its people suffer the paralysis of governance,” he said.
