In a statement released here, AAP has said it has withdrawn the candidature of Dr Prithvi Amonkar from the Siolim Assembly constituency.
“The campaign committee holds regular reviews of the progress in each constituency. During our periodic review, it was noticed that the Siolim candidate’s efforts was not showing desired results,” said Rajeshree Nagarsekar, AAP’s chairperson of campaign committee in Goa.
The statement further said that in a joint review meeting with the candidate, the party had suggested course correction and the candidate had agreed upon the plan.
“Despite all the efforts, there was no change in the trend. The candidate later expressed his inability to carry forward and it was amicably decided to withdraw his candidature,” Nagarsekar said.
AAP also said that the party per se had no issue with the candidate as a person.
“Dr Prithvi Amonkar continues to be our pillar in Siolim and will be assigned a different responsibility shortly,” the AAP statement said.
