Aapda Mitra, Sakhi scheme showcased at national meet

Director of Fire and Emergency Services Nitin Raiker presented the practices adopted in implementing the Aapda Mitra and Aapda Sakhi Scheme in the State, at a national meet in Bengaluru.
The National Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) organised the workshop on launching/training of MIS & Mobile App for Upscaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the workshop in presence of Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka, Principal Secretary, RD & Commissioner, KSDMA, Dr Manoj Rajan, KSDMA Commissioner Kunal Satyarthi, NDMA Joint Secretary Vandita Sharma and Karnataka Chief Secretary Rajendra Singh.
In his presentation, Raiker showcased the visuals of the Aapda Mitra and Aapda Sakhi Scheme, and focused on the basic concept of disaster management, disaster preparedness, basic search and rescue, earthquake and safety, flood/cyclone/tsunami, medical first aid, rope rescue and improvised techniques & flood rescue techniques exercise.
He also presented his department’s initiative in the field of IT-related features on the scheme such as Live Calls, Daily Situation Report and geo-referencing the locations of the community volunteers across the State of Goa, which are available on the department official website portal dfes.goa.gov.in.
State Under Secretary (Revenue) Shubham Naik was also present on the occasion. NDMA Member Rajender Singh placed on record the efforts made by Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, Goa in training the community.
A presentation on salient features and details of various modules of the MIS portal and Mobile App developed by Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority with hands-on practice to State officers on using the Mobile Application was demonstrated by Dr Manoj Rajan, Commissioner, KSDMA.
A visit was also organised to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, where a presentation of innovative practices in Disaster Management was demonstrated.
