The Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) on Thursday arrested seven men including a police constable for posing as a team of the Anti Corruption Branch and extorting money from truckers at Canacona.
It was alleged that the accused were stopping trucks at night by posing as ACB sleuths and extorting money from the drivers.ACB took the action after a Gujarat-based truck operator filed a complaint that they were being harassed at the border by ACB sleuths at late night hours under the pretext of checking documents. Police Inspectors Gurudas Kadam and Tukaram Chavan attached to ACB, conducted the operation to zero in on the racket.
