Verna police arrested Pankaj Sharda (21) at the Vasco railway station, while he was attempting to flee the State after allegedly stabbing a person in Consua.
One Lavkush (26), a native of Uttar Pradesh but residing in Consua, had filed a complaint stating that Sharda, a native of Uttar Pradesh but residing at Consua, had stabbed him with a knife, causing him grievous injury on the night of March 26.
The accused fled from the spot after the incident.
Verna police began investigations and received information on Wednesday that the accused had been seen at Vasco Railway Station and was planning to flee the State.
A team led by PSI Utkrantrao Desai rushed to the Vasco Railway Station and laid a trap with the help of Head Constable Sachin Bandekar of Vasco Police station.
The accused was nabbed at the railway station and was later arrested under Section 326 IPC.
Verna PSI Utkrantrao Desai is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Diogo Gracias and guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
