A meet with South Goa cable TV operators was held to sensitise them about the need to stop transmission of unauthorised channels despite instructions to this effect by the Ministry of Information and Broadcastoing.
The meet was attended by the South Goa Collectorate authorities where the digitisation of cable TV network in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry was also stressed upon by the authorities.
Roland Martins of GOACAN demanded action against the transmission of analogous signals by some operators, while claiming that January 31, was the deadline set by the Ministry for Municipal areas and March 31, was for other areas in this matter.
The issue of sale of set-top boxes also came up for the discussion at this meet where Martins raised the issue of some set top boxes where the MRP is not mentioned.
He also demanded review of all these matters by the concerned SDMs and the entire list of cable operators in South Goa be mentioned on the website of the authorities.
Martins also urged the government to declare which are pay channels and represent the entire gamut of this matter before the Ministry.
