Various activists organised a token protest at Azad Maidan, on Saturday, to condemn the Centre as well as the State government over failure to protect Goa’s interests on Mhadei.

Among those who participated included Xencor Polgi, Tara Kerkar, Anthony D’Silva, Mahesh Naik, John Nazareth, Azim Shaikh, Jack Mascarenhas, Ana Gracias, Sayyad Iftiaz, Golda Almedia, Jayesh Shetgaonkar, Shiva More, and others.

The activists lambasted the Central government for approving the DPR of Karnataka allowing the diversion of Mhadei waters without consulting Goa.

Further, they chided the State government for failing to protect Goa’s interests and falling prey to the political clout of Karnataka.

Further, the activists have urged Goans to understand the gravity of the situation and join the agitation on the Mhadei issue in large numbers if they do not want to thirst for water in the coming years.
