At a time when the banking sector has come under strain, the Balli-based Adarsh agricultural marketing society has grown by leaps and bounds in the last 25 years since its inception in the year 1993.
In fact, in a span of 25 years, the society has grown manifold with a business turnover of Rs 130 crore, retaining the second position in agricultural marketing in Goa.
Addressing the media, Chairman of the society Prakash Shankar Velip said the society today has around 13 credit branches with deposits pegged around Rs 60.82 crore and advances of Rs 28.14 crore.
Outlining the vision of the society, Velip said the society is committed to uplift the social and economic status of its members by producing more agricultural goods by introducing mechanical methods to increase productivity and inculcating saving habits amongst them, and ensure that the stakeholders get quality of services through the spirit of cooperation.
Unveiling the Mission in 2019, Velip said the society will establish and become a pioneer in agricultural credit in the cooperation movement. He said the society plans to build the second floor of the multipurpose hall at Adarsh Bhavan, a modern Adarsh rice mill, Adarsh nursery, organic coconut farming, besides training centre at Adarsh Bhavan, a Adarsh Krishi bazaar at Arlem and a hostel for the students.
