The Additional Ccollector’s order comes in the wake of a petition filed by a resident Melvyn Fernandes.The order assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the decision by the demolition squad asking SGPDA to engage a consultant to assist in the demolition of the school building.
Johnson told The Goan that he has told the SGPDA to seal the school premises since the PDA had ordered the demolition of the building on the grounds that it was unsafe. “If the SGPDA has concluded that the school building is unsafe, then the question arises as to how an unsafe building can ensure the safety of the school children,” Johnson said.
The SGPDA had earlier ordered the demolition of the school building following a complaint from Melvyn Fernandes stating that the
building is unsafe for human habitation.
The demolition order, however, could not be executed by the demolition squad after the PWD insisted that the PDA engage consultant before razing down the structure.
