Administrator of Sanjivani Sugar Factory to retire on February 29

PONDA

The Administrator of Sanjivani Sugar Factory in Dharbandoda, Satej Kamat, is set to retire on February 29. The Agriculture Department has initiated procedures to extend his term by one year. However, the Gomantak Sugarcane Producers’ Association vehemently opposes this extension, leading to a deadlock in the decision-making process.

Kamat assumed the role of Administrator in September 2022 when the factory was shut down. Under his leadership, the factory’s wasteland was transformed into a productive farm, providing employment to workers and yielding significant revenue, approximately three lakh rupees monthly.

With Kamat’s impending retirement, attention turns to the appointment of a new administrator or the extension of his term. Sources suggest that a decision on the extension may come in the final days of February.

Nevertheless, the strong opposition from the Gomantak Sugarcane Production Association, conveyed to Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, adds uncertainty to the situation. All eyes are now on Naik’s decision regarding the extension of Kamat’s term.
