MARGAO
Even as the Covid positivity rate has further shown a decline, the number of patients admitted in the two major Covid hospitals in South Goa, the South Goa district hospital and ESI hospital have further come down in the last 24 hours.
The 235-bedded ESI hospital is playing host to only 27 patients as on Tuesday evening, indicating the improvement in the Covid situation.
The situation at the South Goa district hospital was no different. At around 9 pm on Tuesday, only 150 patients were undergoing treatment in the hospital, implying that around 418 out of the total 568 beds are lying vacant.
South Goa district hospital Nodal Officer, Dr Rajesh Patil has said the situation has seen further improvement in the last three days. He said around 20 patients are critically ill and are in the ICUs and ITUs in the hospital. “The doctors and the healthcare workers are doing their best to see that these patients recover and go home,” he said.
At the ESI hospital, the number of vacant beds in the 235-bedded hospital is pegged around 208 as on Tuesday evening.
Of the total 27 patients in the hospital, around 11 are on oxygen and another 10 on Remdesivir treatment.
Meanwhile, a glance at the health bulletin showed that the total number of active Covid cases at the Margao Urban Health centre is put at 248.
The situation at the other health centres has further improved with the Covid positivity rate falling by the day.
