The South Goa Advocates Association has knocked the doors of the State Registrar cum head of Notary Services, Parag Nagorcekar for timely action regarding delayed deed approvals at the Salcete Civil Registrar cum Sub-Registrar and to ensure no additional burden on the general public.
In a representation made by Association President Adv Prasad Naik, the Association drew attention of the State Registrar to a critical matter impacting the general public who are facing lots of hardships on account of prolonged delays in deed approvals.
Pointing out that two Sub-Registrars are posted at the Salcete Sub-Registrar office, the Association claimed that while deeds submitted with one of the Sub-Registrar receive prompt approval within a day or two, those presented to the second officer experience unwarranted delays, often exceeding 10 days. This extended waiting period causes significant inconveniences for the general public, who must endure extended timelines for their deeds to receive approval, the Association added.
Given the situation, Adv Naik pointed out that citizens are compelled to opt for Tatkal and Super Tatkal services, incurring additional costs of Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively, to expedite the process. This practice not only burdens individuals financially but also undermines the intent of an efficient and accessible registration system.
“The implementation of the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) aimed to streamline processes and minimise inconveniences for the general public. However, the delayed and inefficient approach of one of the sub-registrar is imposing an unnecessary financial burden and creating hardships for citizens, both during the peak season in December and throughout the year,” the Association said, while seeking intervention of the State Registrar to streamline the system.
