A 36-year-old man from the Republic of Guinea was arrested for alleged possession of cocaine worth Rs 2 lakh, in Anjuna, a police official said.
The accused Malam Camara was apprehended in a raid in the coastal village on the intervening night of November 14 and 15.
Acting on specific information, Anjuna Police conducted a raid at an internal road near XOXO bar and restaurant, Anjuna and intercepted the alleged accused with the consignment.
“The accused was found in illegal possession of 1.74 grams of psychotropic drugs suspected to be ‘cocaine’ and 3.12 grams of suspected ‘heroine’ all worth Rs 2.10 lakh,” said Jivba Dalvi, SDPO Mapusa.
Camara was arrested under relevant provisions of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Police said he is presently cooling his heels in the police lockup and will be produced before the court for remand on Thursday.
The illegal drugs have been seized under the search panchanama.
