Vasco PI warns of strict action against those involved in group fights
VASCO
After a video of a fight in Vasco went viral on social media on Tuesday evening, many netizens linked the video to a gang war and alleged that the persons involved in the fight had also assaulted the police.
However, Vasco police inspector Kapil Nayak on Wednesday afternoon said that the viral video indicating a gang war was a misleading video and further clarified that the fight was a case of road rage.
“The viral video is a clear-cut road rage case and happened on Saturday night on the FL Gomes road near Saraswat Bank. There was a car moving on the road with three occupants, and there were another two persons on a bike behind the car, continuously honking to move ahead. The car, however, could not give sides since the road was packed due to Narkasur events, and finally, the car stopped and questioned the bike riders why they were honking profusely. They had a verbal argument that converted into a physical fight where some persons also joined in the fights,” Nayak said.
“The police reached the site and separated the two persons, and one police was accidentally hurt in the process. After the police arrived, many of the persons fled the site, and we managed to arrest few persons who were caught fighting under preventive measures under section 151. We later went to search for the other persons involved in the fight, but they went into hiding, and we later got all the persons and took action against all eleven of them as well. It is a very wrong message attached to the video terming the fight as a gang war,” he added.
“Vasco police will take action on people moving in groups and in case of fights; we will give them the right justice on the spot and complete the formalities later,” he further said.
