After a five-month break, the Pai Tiatrist hall of the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and the black box will be re-opened for tiatr from November 5.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will not only inaugurate the renovated auditorium of the Ravindra Bhavan, but is expected to launch the Mhaje Ghar scheme for the villages of Salcete from the hall on Wednesday morning.

Chairman, Ravindra Bhavan Rajendra Talak told the media that repair and renovation work on the Pai Tiatrist auditorium and the black box has been completed on October 30 as per the deadline. “We have been able to complete within the deadline without facing much hurdles, thanks to the support from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, BJP State President Damu Naik,” Talak said.

Addressing the media along with Ravindra Bhavan Vice-Chairman Manohar Borkar, Talak said the PWD has carried major work on the false ceiling and the painting. “The carpet has been totally replaced. The cushions of the chairs have been replaced. Additional lights have been installed, besides the step lights to ensure that people can walk with ease in the auditorium,” he said.

Talak further said that to tide over pitch dark conditions, especially in times of power failures, lights have now been installed on the pillars inside the auditorium. “When there is power failure, it takes 40 seconds for the backup generator to automatically start. During this period, the auditorium may witness pitch dark conditions. To tide over such a situation, the lights on the pillars, which are powered by inverters will automatically start,” he added.

To mark the reopening on the occasion of “Rangalihoomi Din”, a Directory of Institutions in performing arts from Margao, Fatorda and Navelim which consists of details of 20 institutions which are training 2,839 students in various forms of performing arts with the help of 81 teachers, will be released at 6 pm and this will be followed by a Marathi play ‘Anandmath’ by Collage Creations, Pune.

The play is based on the renowned novel by Rishi Bankimchandra Chatopadhyay. This play is staged on November 5 in order to commemorate 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, written on 7th November 1875 by Rishi Bankimchandra Chatopadhyay and later rendered by Rabindranath Tagore in 1896.
