A 34-year-old construction worker died after falling from a building under construction at MVR Homes near MES College, Zuarinagar, while a minor girl sustained injuries after the worker landed on her, on Monday.
According to Verna police, the deceased, identified as Tabrej Alam, a resident of Goa Velha and native of Bihar, was engaged in plastering work on the third floor of the structure when he lost balance and fell to the ground. In the fall, he accidentally landed on a minor girl who happened to be at the site, causing her injuries on the neck and head.
Both were rushed to Sub District Hospital, Chicalim, where doctors declared Alam brought dead, while the girl was later referred to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, for further treatment.
Police conducted an inquest panchanama, and the body was shifted to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for medico-legal formalities. A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Pramila Fernandes of Verna Police Station under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar.
