According to sources, night parties at Morjim, Mandrem, Ashvem and Arambol beaches were stopped due to the model code of conduct. However, after the polling on Saturday, night parties started again on Sunday, due to which the locals have expressed anger.
Speaking to reporters, the locals complained that night parties are giving opportunity for illegal activities like drugs and prostitution and they have to face a lot of trouble.
The locals also complained that no action has been taken after several complaints were filed.
“The organisers of night parties threaten those who go against them,” said a local.
When contacted, Pernem Deputy Collector Harish Adkonkar said he has received a report from the DySP Mahesh Gaonkar stating that the bar or club owners can play music only till 10 pm and licenses of the clubs and bars will be cancelled for violating this rule.
Meanwhile, the Sound Pollution Monitoring Board has filed a complaint with the Pernem Deputy Collector in this regard on Monday.
