CANACONA
After being mocked on social media for erecting a bamboo railing along the accident-prone Dumane culvert bridge, the PWD on Saturday began constructing a safety wall with laterite stones.
Following several mishaps at the treacherous Dumane culvert bridge, the PWD had resorted to an unusual move to erect bamboo railings to safeguard the area.
The bamboo railing prompted widespread ridicule on social media and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes assured better safety arrangements while stating that land acquisition was in process to construct a new culvert bridge at Dumane.
On Saturday, PWD workers began erecting a laterite stone wall on either side of the culvert bridge. A PWD source at the site said this stronger protection wall would help minimise road mishaps in the area.
