After Modi, Kejriwal woos Goans with special status

“Goa must get special status. BJP, which is in power both in the State and at the Centre, can grant special status to Goa within 24 hours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had promised special status for Goa but they do not have the intention. Or, what else is stopping them from conferring it on Goa?”
he questioned.
In his address on the occasion of ‘Women’s Dialogues’ held in Margao on Sunday, the Delhi CM touched upon the issues of politics, corruption, drug menace, while urging women to take the lead to change politics.
Stating that he was “fully convinced” that women are fully prepared to lead Goa today, Kejriwal said he arrived at this conclusion after
holding “rich discussion” through Womens’ Dialogues in the State.
Terming politics as “very powerful”, Kejriwal said illegal mining exists in Goa due to the “direct or indirect involvement” of some politicians in Goa. Referring to the drug menace in the State, the Delhi CM felt this existed due to the direct political support and patronage.
In so far as corruption in the State is concerned, Kejriwal said, “Corrpution exists because of bad and dirty politics. Corruption will not be tolerated.”
Claiming that the root cause of most of the problems is “dirty politics”, he gave a clarion call for change in politics. “Please change politics and you have a chance this time,” he urged the audience.
Stating that the Womens’ Dialogues needs to be turned into a “movement” in the State, he assured the women about encompassing all issues raised by women into his party’s manifesto, even as he urged women to participate in governance.
“Elections in Goa will have to be fought by the Goan people,” Kejriwal remarked, while stating that his party does not have the financial means to fight the poll. “Women will have to raise these issues in their homes and move door-to-door for seeking votes for AAP,” he told the audience, while urging them to take
the lead to break the record set by Delhi in the Assembly elections.
The Delhi CM also assured the women that AAP will give tickets to “neat and clean” candidates and will cancel the allotted ticket in case proof of the candidate’s dishonesty is established.
Later, responding to a question from the audience, Kejriwal said it would be unfair to deny entry of Congress and BJP workers willing to join AAP merely due to
their affiliations with their former parties.
Earlier, women highlighted their problems and issues facing the State as a part of the Women’s Dailaogues organised by AAP in Margao.
