High-level meet on BRICS at secretariat today

A high-level meeting of central as well as state agencies and departments has been convened on Monday at the Secretariat to thrash out issues in view of the upcoming BRICS 2016 meeting to be held in October in the State.

The meeting is likely to see the presence of Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, who will be the senior most official at the meeting as well as State Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and heads of government departments.   
Officials of the Special Protection Group the SPG, which is an armed force of the Union for providing proximate security to the Prime Minister of India and former Prime Minister of India and members of their immediate families, will also be in attendance given that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in the State. Officials of the central ministry of external affairs will also be attending the meeting.

Goa’s exports of fruits, vegetables hit a low

The exports of fruits and vegetables from Goa are down by a whopping 86 per cent in five years! rnReliable sources in Goa Air Cargo Association revealed that Goa exported only 996 tonnes of perishable cargo in 2015-16 compared to 7,096 tons in 2010-11.
