MARGAO
Radhika Ramdas Chari and her family members had to literally breathe foul sewage odour since the last nine days.
Reason: After the heavy pre-monsoon showers lashed the state since last week, the sewage chamber close to her house at Aquem burst open, spewing sewage which later found its way to her backyard, emitting foul odour.
The family members drew attention of the powers that be to bail out the family since the foul sewage odour was unbearable, besides posing a health hazard.
To her shock and surprise, none of the officials came to her rescue, with the sewage from the damaged chamber flooding her backyard.
It was only on Monday that a team of officials have come to inspect the chamber, but Radhika and her family is yet to get a permanent relief. “The damaged sewage chamber not only posed nuisance, but a health hazard. It is indeed shocking that that the authorities have come to attend the problem after nine long days”, she said, while hoping that the officials will rectify the fault and plug the sewage discharge.
