MARGAO
The Food and Drugs Administration has ordered a bakery to shut down operations after an inspection found glaring discrepancies and deficiencies.
The inspection conducted under the guidance of Designated officer Sanjyot Kudalkar ( South Goa) and Food Safety official Sneha Naik, Abhishek Naik and Atmaram Naik found unhygienic conditions in the bakery unit.
The designated officer Sanjyot Kudalkar informed that the bakery was given an opportunity in the recent past to comply with the guidelines, but in vain.
“After today’s inspection, we have asked the proprietor to comply with the directions. We have come across unwanted things stored in the bakery, besides expired products, the ceiling damaged etc”, she said.
Saying that the machines in the bakery are not working properly and in a damaged condition, it was pointed out that the workers were found working without uniforms and sans health cards.
“There’s no pest control found in the unit as evident by the movement of rats”, she said, while saying that the owner has been running the unit without the mandatory licence.
