MARGAO
A group of youngsters from Margao and Mapusa called on the Margao police station to demand arrest of the agent who has allegedly lured them to pay money on the promise of giving them employment in the gulf countries.

While the victims hailing from Mapusa had initially lodged a complaint with the Mapusa police, the same was later transferred to the Margao police station since the youth had handed over the money to the agent at a hotel located at Malbhat.
“We had approached the agent for jobs in the Gulf since he had in the recent past recruited local youth to companies abroad. Accordingly, he asked the youth to pay the money promising to get the visas for the travel,” a victim informed.
He added: “Since there was no sign of the promised job forthcoming, we approached the agent, only to be told that he would honour the promise and provide the jobs. Since we have been left in the lurch, we have now approached the police for action.”
One of the victims pointed out that the Margao police has assured to initiate action against the accused and has asked the youth to submit documents such as a bounced cheque to zero in on the accused.
