CANACONA:
Agonda Sarpanch Prettal Fernandes was ousted in a No-Confidence Motion (NCM) passed by four of the seven panch members.
Two of the seven panch members, including Sarpanch Prettal Fernandes, were absent, while Deputy Sarpanch Karuna Phaldessai along with Nilesh Pagui, ex-sarpanch Fatima Rodgrigues, Ramnath Velip and Canisha Fernandes were seated when NCM was taken up for voting. Since none from the present five panch members opposed the NCM, presiding officer Sushant Lolayekar declared that the NCM had been passed.
Agonda VP Secretary Amol K Naikgaunkar and Canacona BDO Extension Officer Biva Velip were also present at the meeting.
Nilesh G Pagui, who represents Dhaval-Khazan, a coastal ward of the village, is likely to be elected as new sarpanch
Incidentally, Prettal Fernandes had attended to office work on Monday and had reportedly signed some files for developmental works.
