Five fast foods sealed in Mapusa

MAPUSA:

Five fast food outlets around the Alankar Theatre area in Mapusa have been sealed by authorities as they did not have the necessary license from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).

A survey conducted by the GSPCB a few months ago found that many food vendors, especially fast food and restaurant operators, in Mapusa city were operating without obtaining the necessary licenses from the board.

Accordingly, the GSPCB had issued show cause-notices to the establishments concerned. Due to non-compliance of the GSPCB rules, the Bardez Sub-District Magistrate was requested to seal the five fast food outlets and to submit a report in the matter.

The SDM directed the Bardez mamlatdars to take necessary action in the matter and the five fast food outlets were sealed on Tuesday.

“The GSPCB had issued show-cause notices to several establishments in Mapusa city which were found operating without a license. Action to seal these establishments was taken on Tuesday,” said GSPCB Chairman Mahesh Patil.
