Chief Minister Pramod Sawant's pet project 'Swayampurna Goa' will focus on agriculture and rural development and is banking on the Union Agriculture Ministry for special support to revive the State's unique 'khazan' lands.
Sawant, who addressed a press conference on Thursday, said Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will address Goa's farmers, Swayampurna Mitras and officials virtually on Saturday at 11 am.
At some 300-odd locations in the State, arrangements will be made for live-streaming Chouhan's address, which Sawant said will be inspiring since the minister has vast experience as CM of Madhya Pradesh for 15 years in promoting rural economies and development.
Compensation before Chaturthi
Sawant said all farmers who suffered crop losses due to the July extreme rain and floods will get their compensation before Ganesh Chaturthi as promised.
Sawant said the process to pay compensation to those farmers who do not possess Krishi Cards too has begun.
The chief minister said the department has set aside the funds for the crop-loss compensations which are roughly estimated to be about Rs 3.5 crore. As assured in the assembly session, the payments will go to their accounts before Chathurti," Sawant asserted.
