Airport cheers over high footfalls for Carnival

Carnival festivities may have been celebrated on the streets, but Dabolim airport also had a reason to celebrate with the rising footfall of passengers during the Carnival weekend.

A tweet of the Dabolim airport confirmed that it handled as many as 74 flights during the weekend with a total footfall of 23,473 domestic passengers.

“Once again, weekend figures moving up. Goa International Airport handled 74 arrivals and 74 departures with 11,195 arriving passengers and 12,278 departing passengers. Total footfall of 23,473 domestic passengers,” stated the tweet.

According to a source at Dabolim airport, the footfalls of passengers were quite high during the weekend with Carnival parades and floats being celebrated in the State.

“While the Airport witnessed heavy passenger footfalls, taxi operators also had some great business during the weekend. Things seem to be definitely looking better every passing day at the Goa airport since the opening of the lockdown.”

“A lot of passengers feel safe at the airport and many share their positive feedback on social media that subsequently gets in more passengers into Goa,” said the source.

Meanwhile, King Momo and his queen also made an appearance at Dabolim airport to enthrall the passengers, as part of the festivities organised by airport authorities.

PANAJI The Revolutionary Goans (RG) front on Monday formally launched itself as a regional political party in Goa. The launch has been scheduled online through social media platforms. Manoj Parab, head of the political party, formally announced the launching in Panaji and said it will field 40 candidates in all constituencies.
