MARGAO
A battle for Margao cannot be won without winning the battle over the 2500-strong migrant vote atop the Moti Dongor “ long considered the bastion of Opposition leader Digambar Kamat.
But Babu's name rent the air around the bastie on Wednesday as the BJP candidate Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar descended atop the hillock setting a stage for a battle for the migrant vote.
As part of the BJP’s game plan to storm Moti Dongor and garner the crucial vote that makes or mars the prospects of a contesting candidate, Babu did not let down the inhabitants. Taking the Opposition leader head on over the state of affairs atop the hillock, Babu has promised to legalise the houses dotting atop the hillock if they get him elected in the coming election.
And, in a bid to woo the Muslim vote, which has been struggling to get a kabrastan for the community over the decades, the BJP candidate promised to resolve the issue immediately after his election.
“Why did the Baba not legalise the houses and structures atop the Moti Dongor? The land does not belong to Kamat, but it is owned by the local comunidade. I want to assure you all that my priority will be to legalise the houses”, he said.
In his inimitable rhetoric, Babu said the people of Moti Dongor are upset that the MLA, who has been representing them for the last 28 years, has not even legalised their houses.
