Alarm at Guleli as 2 crocodiles spotted in river

VALPOI

There has been alarm among locals at Kankire in Guleli-Sattari after two crocodiles were spotted in the Ragada river.

The two crocodiles were first spotted by some locals and news soon spread across the village. Several locals then went to the riverside and confirmed the presence of the two crocodiles.

Locals claimed that crocodiles had never been sighted in the Ragada river before and they suspect the two crocodiles may have entered the river during the floods last year.

They have expressed concern over the presence of the crocodiles since the river is used for bathing purposes and to wash clothes.

Several locals contacted the forest department and reported the matter to them. Some forest staff are believed to have visited the place and noticed the two crocodiles in the water.

They have, however expressed reluctance to drive the crocodiles out of the river, on grounds that rivers are a natural habitat for crocodiles.
