BJP State President, Sadanand Tanavade said Congress leaders in Goa were emulating their top leader who was having fun in a foreign country.
Tanavade, on Thursday, also defended the Rs 5.50 crore expenditure for the swearing-in as the people of the State had given a resounding mandate to the party.
“Congress top leader is gone to a foreign country to dance. He is dancing there. These people (Goa leaders) are dancing here. We are doing our party work with all sincerity,” Tanavade said, obviously referring to Congress national leader Rahul Gandhi's video dancing at a friend's wedding ceremony in Nepal.
The State BJP chief was responding to the media at a function to induct Ms Tejeshree Pai, CEO of Chowgule Industries Pvt Ltd (auto unit) into the BJP.
Tanavade said that BJP had announced that it will induct a professional into the party every week, and have kept up to the promise.
Last week we inducted a doctor into the party. Today a CEO has joined us. We will continue inducting more people at the party. Even normal karyakartas will join the party. We are working on the ground and people want to join us,” he said.
He further said that Congress had announced starting a ‘Chetna Yatra’ in the State but so far nobody has joined that party.
Tanavade defended the State government’s lavish expenditure on the swearing-in of the CM and eight ministers in a grand programme in March this year.
“People of Goa gave us a big mandate and therefore a grand function was necessary. The BJP-led government has stormed to power for the third time. When the Prime Minister and union ministers are attending the function then we need to hold a big function,” he said.
According to Tanavade, there was nothing wrong with the government's decision to lodge an FIR on the Lobo couple.
“After taking charge, the new minister must have noticed some irregularities and taken the action. It’s not personal. The TCP department has taken the action,” he said.
“If there is something wrong then he (Michael Lobo) will have to face the music,” he added.
