CANACONA
There has been alarm in Canacona Taluka, after at least three patients tested positive for dengue in the past few weeks.
According to sources at the Canacona Community Health Centre, 200 samples were tested for dengue since January, of which blood samples of around 50 patients of suspected dengue were tested in the past one month.
During this period, at least three dengue cases have reportedly tested positive and while two patients have been residing in Canacona municipality areas, the third patient resides in Poinguinim village.
“The three dengue patients are being treated and their treatment is progressing well,” Canacona Sanitary Inspector Pranay Naik informed.
CHC sources also informed that necessary precautionary measures are being taken right from January to tackle the spread of dengue in the taluka. CHC teams have been visiting areas where the threat of dengue is high.
Incidentally, the Canacona CHC is not equipped to conduct blood tests for dengue and has been collecting samples and sending them to Hospicio Hospital at Margao for results.
CHC sources also informed high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pain and skin rash are some of the common symptoms associated with dengue.
