An excise team seized alcohol worth Rs 12.14 lakh which was being illegally transported out of the State on Thursday.
The vehicle transporting the alcohol reached the check post at around 7.30 am and the driver did not approach officials with his documents.
The driver escaped from the site with the vehicle keys when officials were inspecting the truck and found 330 boxes of beer. This is a fourth major seizure carried out during the Covid pandemic.
Meanwhile, locals have raised queries over the fact that an 8-10 member excise team has not been successful in nabbing the driver or cleaner in any of their operations.
