The Aldona Block Congress has sharply criticised the notification of 56 villages as urban areas, which includes the villages of Aldona and Moira.
Addressing a news conference, Congress spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar said the government should have taken into confidence the elected members and residents of the notified panchayats before declaring these villages as urban areas. “This notification is nothing but a conspiracy by the government to finish Goenkar and Goenkarponn,” said Panjikar.
“The 56 villages in Goa have been notified as urban areas only to facilitate builders to construct mega structures and sell them to non-Goans. The government has gone ahead without involving the people in this decision, but the people will not tolerate this,” warned Panjikar.
He also ridiculed Garbage Management Minister Michael Lobo’s suggestion to regularise Matka gambling.
“The police has been boasting about stopping Matka, but Lobo’s demand only reveals that Makta gambling is rampant in the State,” said Panjikar.
